Thrypti is a mountain north east of Ierapetra that forms the eastern side of the break in the mountains where Crete is at its narrowest. It is an easy drive that offers impressive views of north and south coast.

Kalamafka & Chapelle Timios Stavros
Kalamafka is an attractive village in the mountains near Ierapetra in south-east Crete. Timios Stavros Chapel which is on top of Kastelos Hill is one of the reasons to visit. Il y a un peu de montée, haut 224 pas, mais la vue en vaut la peine.

Cascade de Milonas
The waterfall of Milonas is a 40m high waterfall partway down Milonas Gorge which starts near the village of Schinokapsala and ends at the south coast 20 mins east of Ierapetra at Avra beach.

Ostria, Thalassa & Plages de Paplinou
Paplinou Beach is a beach on the south east coast a little to the east of Ierapetra. The western end of the beach is for visitors and is officially known as Thalassa after the beach bar located there (not to be confused with the resort near Chania), whilst the eastern end is for people booked at the resort and is usually referred to as Ostria beach. The beach is long and the water is excellent and there is plenty of off-road parking available.

Lagune de Balos
Balos Lagoon is one of the most famed beaches on Crete with it’s west coast location offering great sunsets. It is located off the peninsula at the north west of the Island a little over an hour from Chania near the Gramvousa islands which often feature on boat trips to Balos.

Achlia Bay is a beach in the south east of Crete approximately half way between Ierapetra and Makrys Gialos. C'est l'une des plus belles plages de la côte sud, especially on windy days when the shape of the bay provides shelter on the beach and in the water.

Itanos beach is in the far north east of Crete beyond Sitea. Itanos is actually 3 beaches and is also the same location as the ruins of the ancient town of Itanos. Itanos is just north of the much busier palm beach at Vai.

Voyages de bateau & îlots environnants
Crete has nearly 100 smaller islands surrounding it and many of these can be visited with regular boat trips or with a private hire. Some of the islands are protected national parks (called Kri-kri) though and can’t or shouldn’t be visited. Many of the lesser known islets are also hard to identify with even google maps not showing names.
